How Art Competitions Build Confidence: Celebrating Our Young Artists’ Success Stories
At Falak Art Studio, we believe that art is much more than creating beautiful drawings and paintings—it is about building confidence, resilience, discipline, and creative thinking. This year, our students have once again shown that dedication and imagination can lead to incredible accomplishments.
Our young artists proudly earned recognition at prestigious competitions including Jr VASE Platinum and Gold Awards, school district art competitions, and international-level contests. These achievements are not simply awards, they represent months of persistence, experimentation, problem-solving, and artistic growth.
Why Art Competitions Matter for Young Artists
Art competitions provide students with opportunities to:
• Build confidence through public recognition• Learn to accept constructive feedback• Develop discipline and long-term project management skills• Strengthen portfolios for advanced programs and college applications• Explore personal storytelling through visual art
Competitions encourage students to move beyond “making pretty pictures” and begin creating meaningful artwork with purpose.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Preparing for competitions teaches technical skills such as:
Composition and perspective
Advanced shading techniques
Creative concept development
Artist statements and presentation skills
Time management and project planning
Students learn how to transform ideas into artwork that communicates emotions, stories, and experiences.
Celebrating Every Artist
While awards are exciting, growth matters even more. Every student who participates develops stronger artistic habits, creative confidence, and problem-solving skills that extend far beyond art class.
Success in art isn’t only measured by medals; it’s measured by courage, creativity, and consistency.
Looking Ahead
As our students continue growing, we remain committed to creating opportunities that challenge, inspire, and empower young artists to dream bigger.
Because creativity is not just a skill; it is a lifelong advantage.
WINNERS
Middle School Jr VASE 2026 Platinum Award - Category: Division 2
Aarshi Das for her artwork title: Forgotten Childhood
LISD ART SHOW
Aria Perumandla - Rank: Second Place
The most compelling feature is the clever play on reflection and transparency. While the subject is submerged underwater with fish swimming freely around her face, the lenses of her vintage-style goggles reflect an entirely different scene; the flat horizon of an open sea, looking out from above the surface. It creates a beautiful paradox of being in the water while looking out at it.
I Am Texas Art Competition 2025/26 - Semi Finalists
Nikitha Ramakrishnan Artwork Title- “ Texas is my Home”
Artist statement: My wonderful memory as a toddler is going on evening walks with my family on a nearby nature trail. I love looking at the beautiful flowers, butterflies, birds, and the golden sunset.
Nature is my happy place, and spending time outdoors helps me get fresh ideas and be more creative.
In my art, I imagine myself wearing cowgirl boots, smelling the bluebonnets, chasing a monarch butterfly, touching the prickly pear cactus, and looking at the bright Texas sunset.
Samraggi Banerjee Artwork Title- “The Lunar Lone Star”
Samraggi's art piece in charcoal shows astronaut Christina Koch and commemorates Koch's recent achievement of being an integral part of the Artemis II voyage and the first woman to orbit the Moon.
