Artist of the Month- Atharv Mathew (Age 6)

Updated: Feb 3

There is something special about watching a child discover art not as an activity, but as a language. For Atharv Mathew, drawing became a way to explore the world around him long before it became a skill. What began as playful doodles soon grew into a daily habit of observing, imagining, and creating.

Atharv began showing a strong interest in art shortly before his fourth birthday. His curiosity naturally gravitated toward paper, pencils, and any surface that allowed him to draw. What stood out early on was not just how often he drew, but how deeply he immersed himself in the process. Newspapers, sketchbooks, loose sheets, nothing was off-limits. Drawing quickly became part of his everyday rhythm.

As Atharv continued creating, his growth was remarkable. He completed multiple art books within weeks, confidently exploring different mediums such as pens, crayons, and pencils. He often prefers drawing directly without using erasers, trusting his instincts and allowing his lines to flow freely. Many of his artworks, including observational sketches drawn from real life, are completed within just 20 to 30 minutes, reflecting strong focus and visual awareness at a young age.

Rather than gravitating toward traditional coloring activities, Atharv naturally leaned into original drawing. He enjoys creating his own ideas, characters, and compositions, allowing imagination to guide his hand. His artistic interests have also been influenced by family members who draw, and he is always eager to share his work with them, proud of each piece he creates.

A meaningful moment in Atharv’s artistic journey came when he independently drew and colored Rukmini Devi after watching an episode of Xavier Riddle. This marked a noticeable shift in his observation skills and artistic expression, showing how inspiration, when paired with curiosity, can lead to creative leaps.

While exploring art schools, Atharv’s family noticed that many programs focused heavily on age-based instruction, often limiting younger children to very basic work. Falak Art Studio stood out for its ability-focused approach, where children are encouraged to grow based on their individual readiness and potential rather than age alone.

Since joining Falak Art Studio, Atharv has shown significant growth in confidence, motivation, and artistic ability. He feels inspired by the studio environment, eagerly looks forward to classes, and practices regularly.

The encouragement, guidance, and space to explore have allowed his creativity to deepen while maintaining the joy that first drew him to art.

We are proud to celebrate Atharv Mathew as our Artist of the Month, not only for his artistic skill, but for the curiosity, focus, and quiet confidence he brings to every drawing. His journey reminds us that when children are given the freedom to create and the support to grow, art becomes more than a skill. It becomes a voice.

At Falak Art Studio, we are grateful to be part of Atharv’s creative journey and look forward to watching his imagination continue to unfold, one drawing at a time. 🎨✨
